With over 100 years of history, the "Restaurant Unione", located in Gordevio, is currently run by Giancarlo Terrot, chef and soul of a typical valmaggese local.
The building, a perfect example of the nineteenth century Ticinese style, has been recently renovated in keeping with the original architecture.
This beautiful town, located at the beginning of the Valley Vallemaggia, 10 km from Locarno, is a good starting point for those who want to discover ancient testimonies, pastures and natural masterpieces by walking and trekking. The river Maggia and its tributaries offer the possibility to refresh during the hot summer days, whilst enjoying the benefits of the sun. The Valley also offers a variety of activities for those who want to perform sports such as canyoning and climbing.

For those who want to stay in Gordevio, the Restaurant Unione has a total of five rooms.
The menus offered by Giancarlo are mostly typical of the Ticino cuisine and based on seasonal products. Among the house specialities, the chef suggests Angus beef with pepper from Vallemaggia, the Lake Maggiore Trio fish, lamb shanks with whiskey or the tasty dessert Tiramisu with Nocino. Moreover, this cosy restaurant offers a delicious luncheon menu for 15 CHF, coffee included.
The dining room is managed by Miyoko, a refined Japanese lady, Giancarlo’s wife.
During winter, the light of the candles on the tables make the atmosphere warm and romantic. During summer time, dishes can be enjoyed under the arbour surrounded by the beautiful vegetation.
